Midwest Nostalgia

Most people would find small-town farming communities to be “mundane” or a place that lacks interest, that’s dull. But to me, a small-town farming community is home and can be as exciting and interesting as the perspective of the visitor or resident makes it. The beauty is in eyes on the beholder. The midwest is where true Americana style began.

For my collection, I used the historical elements for inspiration from both my old home, Indiana and my new home, San Francisco.  I based my textile and garment detail choices on the history of Indiana farmers and based the denim and print shapes off of San Francisco’s early denim production and natural landscapes. I have found indescribable nostalgia in San Francisco’s natural landscapes because I find myself reminiscing on the natural beauty of my mundane, yet amazing hometown.  My collection is Fall/Winter and my color story derives from the harvest season in Indiana.
