Everyday we find ourselves with different emotions and feelings. One day we can feel happy and outgoing and perhaps the next day we feel the need to keep to ourselves. This collection was first inspired by shadows which transgressed to the psychological "shadow and self" and how both play a role in our everyday lives. Ultimately, the collection was designed for that concept and the type of person who may see and experience both sides; Extrovert & Introvert. The days we are feeling extrovert we find ourselves exposing more and being more transparent. The days we are feeling introvert we find ourselves covering up and wearing less form-fitting clothes. In the end, the collection leaned more towards the introvert side, so I used colors such as white and sea foam to help represent this outgoing personality in the clothing.
Most people would find small-town farming communities to be “mundane” or a place that lacks interest, that’s dull. But to me, a small-town farming community is home and can be as exciting and interesting as the perspective of the visitor or resident makes it. The beauty is in eyes on the beholder. The midwest is where true Americana style began.
For my collection, I used the historical elements for inspiration from both my old home, Indiana and my new home, San Francisco. I based my textile and garment detail choices on the history of Indiana farmers and based the denim and print shapes off of San Francisco’s early denim production and natural landscapes. I have found indescribable nostalgia in San Francisco’s natural landscapes because I find myself reminiscing on the natural beauty of my mundane, yet amazing hometown. My collection is Fall/Winter and my color story derives from the harvest season in Indiana.
This S/S 18 collection is inspired by collage artists and abstract artists. The most prevalent artists that inspired me were George Baselitz, an abstract portrait artist, and Ernesto Artillo, a collage artist that uses portrait photography and other mixed media. These artworks inspired me to collage in digital form mixing draping and rigid tailoring.
Walking the streets of San Francisco, I came across a "Missing" sign, that was missing the person's photo. This eerie feeling provoked me to wonder if that person was still missing. Were they found? Did someone tear it down? Did the others give up? I continued the feeling of "missing" people that aren't in our lives anymore, whether it be of choice or poor fortune. It was a project that was "absent of color" and the collection features androgynous clothing with cutouts, graphics and strange textiles.
This is a knitwear collection inspired by the evolution of rust on an object, specifically man-made objects. The mixture of warm and cool colors follows the translation of an object that started fresh and clean (cool) and transformed into a more textured, rusted piece (warm). It is a Fall/Winter collection.
Another knitwear collection which was also inspired by my favorite artists, Alejos and Baselitz. The awkard, oversized, androgynous silhouettes distort the body and emphasize different parts of the body. The process of this collection was beautifully creative because I would continue to work on a swatch even if I had made a mistake, and furthermore I would use the "flaws" to enhance the composition. Fall/Winter Collection.
A woman's clothes seem to define her. And thinking about the specific elements of women's clothing and what they represent, I found that the most defining area of the body (besides the female parts) was the shoulder. The larger or broader the shoulder, the more powerful she appears, and the more exposed the shoulder, the more sexualized she becomes. So in this collection, I use the obvious powerful colors of burgandy and black as well as focusing on the shoulders of the garments.

This F/W collection was inspired by the fiery determination of ice hockey. The elements derive directly from the uniforms (especially the goalie), with oversized shoulders and draping knits and mesh.
