NYFW with "TAILOR BOYS"

This past September, I was in NYC assisting the amazingly talented Yoonsuk Lee’s “TAILOR BOYS” premier collection at NYFW. I helped with alterations and interior finishes for his line inspired by the walk of shame, Vivian Maier’s Photography, and his grandfather’s custom tailored suits. The S/S 19 collection was without a doubt a success at NYFW.

Abercrombie & Fitch Internship

This summer I interned with Abercrombie & Fitch Co. on their men’s denim/twill/swim team. I was an apparel design intern working as an assistant designer role. I learned about the process of creative direction for multiple seasons. My favorite part was learning the techniques of denim such as; L/M/D washes, stone washes, bleaching, painting, destroying, sanding, PP chemical spraying, and more. I also had the amazing opportunity to design a 16-piece unisex denim collection for S/S 19 and present it to fantastic leaders in the company such as Aaron Levine.

Final Presentations at the Academy

This was the first project where the final product was completely up to our designs.  The inspiration derived from my Distortion collection.  Because of the unusual abstraction in my inspiration, I used patchwork in one garment, along with exaggerated asymmetry, along with an abstract silhouette and fabric print in the other garment.

Better than Store Bought

I got tired of my old satin department store-bought pillows, so I bought a yard and a half of rose gold silk and made my own.  Definite upgrade.

Ross Product Development

I spent the summer of 2015 in New York as a product developer at Ross Dress for Less, Inc. I experienced so much in New York and at Ross.  I networked all over the fashion industry (which I will post later about) and learned so much about myself personally and professionally. At Ross I constructed their dinnerware and decorative housewares development packs and had the ability to work with several types of textiles and design a whole collection for Spring 2016. Another responsibility that I loved at Ross was the opportunity to trend forecast by outside comp shopping as well as online comp shopping and reading item sales for what style of products were selling.
